Good Ol’ Fashioned Fun

LEGO

In 2017, LEGO launched its first-ever live-action web series, Rebrickulous, which spanned 137 episodes, gained a devoted cult following, and received a Webby Award nomination for Best Entertainment Series. As the lead editor during the first three seasons, I cut 38 episodes and collaborated with my exceptional editing team to find the show’s unique voice, creating content that pushed the boundaries of what one can achieve with LEGO bricks.

“LEGO Go Karts!” is my favorite episode that I edited. It perfectly encapsulates the show’s frenetic energy and zany humor.

HASBRO

Before any parent purchases a new toy for their kid, they want to see it in action. My assignment: cut exciting, 15-30 second promos that demonstrated how the toys function and how much fun can be had with them. In my work with Hasbro, I’ve edited showcases for a plethora of different product lines, including Star Wars, NERF, Transformers, and more.

This reel highlights some of my favorite pieces.

BOSE

With its innovative BOSEBuild product line, Bose created build-it-yourself speakers and headphones designed to educate kids on the science behind sound. Each product comes paired with an interactive app that guides you through the assembly process and unlocks short, educational videos at key points in the journey.

My favorite video from the project, The Secret Sauce, reveals Bose’s special “recipe” for delivering the exceptional audio quality their products are known for.

VERTEX PHARMACEUTICALS

The What It’s Like web series follows Reece Parkinson, a former BBC radio host and type 1 diabetic, as he treks across the globe to learn from others living with T1D about their experiences with the disease.

In this introductory episode, Reece shares his harrowing diagnosis story along with the countless daily struggles that come with type 1 diabetes.

Transamerica

Transamerica is a life insurance company, but the video content they produce is never focused on selling a policy. It’s about real people telling their stories of perseverance in the face of earth-shattering grief and honoring the loved ones they lost.

In this testimonial, Erik recounts how he dealt with the sudden death of his wife, Sharon, and the effect it had on their adolescent son.

CLEVELAND FES

The Cleveland FES Center is a consortium of five nationally recognized institutions collaborating to conduct important research in neuromodulation with the hope of improving, treating, and reversing neurological symptoms for patients that are desperately in need.

In this fast-paced and inspiring overview, we meet the brilliant clinicians and scientists behind the research, along with a paraplegic patient who benefits from the work they do.

SHORT-FORM NARRATIVE

SOUND OF FEAR

Winner of the jury prize at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival, Sound of Fear tells the story of a woman terrorized by an ancient curse that has rung through the halls of horror for generations.

It was a highlight of my career getting to watch this with a packed house. The film cleverly subverts a tired horror trope, but we made a conscious decision in the edit to double down on the cliche before the premise is revealed in order to bolster its impact. The laughter and palpable relief that swept through the audience once the central conceit was unveiled is a memory I will never forget.

The Plant Mechanic

Selected as part of the Comedy Shorts block at the Boston Underground Film Festival, The Plant Mechanic follows a plant owner and an eccentric botanist as they attempt to treat a seemingly malevolent house plant.

One of my many collaborations with Aidan Payne and the hilarious Luongo Collective, this short utilizes their idiosyncratic comedy stylings to deliver an important social message.

Pinsetters Needed

This documentary short delves into the fascinating world of manual pinsetting, a job that was once vital to the operation of bowling alleys before automation made the profession obsolete. Despite its extinction, pinsetting lives on as a niche bowling subculture. Meet the folks who keep this tradition… rolling.

Pinsetters Needed is currently crushing it on the festival circuit and has already played at Austin Film Festival, the Big Apple Film Festival, RIFF, and many more. To view this private link, please contact me directly for the password.
